We are seeking a highly motivated and service-minded Finishing Carpenter to join our Maintenance Team.
Qualifications & skills
Min grade 12 / equivalent.
- 2+ years of professional carpentry experience
- Carpentry qualification at a vocational school or carpentry apprenticeship preferred.
- Able to speak, read, and understand English
- Valid driver’s license & own reliable transportation
Strong working knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods, including installation and construction.
The ability to repair any broken items that are made of timber or timber products such as luggage racks, furniture, picture frames, desks, chairs, mirrors, etc.
The ability to install maintain and repair locks, ironmongery, fixtures and fittings throughout the Hotel.
The ability to repair and maintain the Banquet partition door system
The ability to install and repair mirrors, artwork and glazing
Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
Basic electrical, plumbing and/or maintenance repair knowledge.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
Able to read blueprints and diagrams.
Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
Strong critical thinking and trouble shooting skills.
Ability to multi-task.
Able to take orders from supervisor’s and execute.
Perform carpentry work including but not limited to furniture repair, levelling furniture, refinishing projects - building shelves, desks, platforms hanging and removing doors
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches and to understand project specifications.
Take measurements and calculate the sizes and amounts of materials needed for the project.
Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other material (e.g., fiberglass) according to measurements.
Build window frames, doors, staircases, brattices, frame buildings, and other structures by using raw materials or pre-constructed items.
Install hardwood floors, siding, cabinets, drywall, and insulation.
Inspect products and conduct repairs or maintenance as needed.
install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and laminate.
Many of our projects run through nights and weekends, so a flexible schedule is required.
Comply with all safety and health procedures to avoid accidents and hazards.
Always observe the company code of conduct while on duty.
Carry out any other reasonable tasks or activities that may be required by your Maintenance Manager
