Ready to cruise? The minimum age to obtain a SAMSA license is 16, but there's no age limit for the theory course. We recommend that aspiring boaters under 16 complete the theory course to ace the SAMSA exam when they hit 16. Beware: once kids and spouses know the rules, they might become back-seat skippers – a fun challenge awaits!

Obtain a SAMSA License under Category R (Inland Water) or Category E (Sea - max 1 nautical mile from coast) to further legitimize your boating or jet ski ventures.
